I took a walk in my desert today. The poor old thing is scarred almost beyond recognition. Its as if the land itself is in suspense, awaiting the next traumas. Vulnerable in the extreme.
But I know where to look for signs of life. They’re meek, but they are tenacious. No wonder I’ve always felt safe alone out there, shaped as I’ve been by its peaceful strengths.
I have sand in my blood and the sun in my eyes.
