I went back to the mortuary today for a viewing. The mortician did such an excellent reconstruction that we were even able to take a few pictures of dad in profile. From one side, he looks just like his old self, but sleeping more peacefully than he ever did in life.
The viewing gave grandma the closure she needed, and the pictures will hopefully satisfy anyone who couldn’t be there in person. Memorial services are tomorrow morning, after which I may be free to write a longer post.
